He sent Moses1 his servant, and Aaron,2 whom he had chosen.327
They performed4 his miraculous signs5 among them, his wonders6 in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness7 and made the land dark-- for had they not rebelled against8 his words?
He turned their waters into blood,9 causing their fish to die.1030
Their land teemed with frogs,11 which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.
He spoke,12 and there came swarms of flies,13 and gnats14 throughout their country.
He turned their rain into hail,15 with lightning throughout their land;
he struck down their vines16 and fig trees17 and shattered the trees of their country.
He spoke,18 and the locusts came,19 grasshoppers20 without number;2135
they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil.
Then he struck down all the firstborn22 in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood.
He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,23 and from among their tribes no one faltered.
Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel24 had fallen on them.
He spread out a cloud25 as a covering, and a fire to give light at night.2640
They asked,27 and he brought them quail28 and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.2941
He opened the rock,30 and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert.
For he remembered his holy promise31 given to his servant Abraham.
He brought out his people with rejoicing,32 his chosen ones with shouts of joy;
he gave them the lands of the nations,33 and they fell heir to what others had toiled34 for--
that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws.35 Praise the LORD.a36
