1 Praise the LORD.a Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants1 of the LORD, 2 you who minister in the house2 of the LORD, in the courts3 of the house of our God. 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good;4 sing praise to his name,5 for that is pleasant.6 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob7 to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.8 5 I know that the LORD is great,9 that our Lord is greater than all gods.10 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him,11 in the heavens and on the earth,12 in the seas and all their depths. 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain13 and brings out the wind14 from his storehouses.15 8 He struck down the firstborn16 of Egypt, the firstborn of men and animals. 9 He sent his signs17 and wonders into your midst, O Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.18 10 He struck down many19 nations and killed mighty kings-- 11 Sihon20 king of the Amorites,21 Og king of Bashan22 and all the kings of Canaan23--Scripture quoted by permission.
