"Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days;1 let me know how fleeting2 is my life.3

You have made my days4 a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man's life is but a breath.5 "Selah"

Man is a mere phantom6 as he goes to and fro:7 He bustles about, but only in vain;8 he heaps up wealth,9 not knowing who will get it.10

"But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.11

Save me12 from all my transgressions;13 do not make me the scorn14 of fools.

I was silent;15 I would not open my mouth,16 for you are the one who has done this.17

Remove your scourge from me; I am overcome by the blow18 of your hand.19

You rebuke20 and discipline21 men for their sin; you consume22 their wealth like a moth23-- each man is but a breath.24 "Selah"
