Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;12
hear me and answer me.2 My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught33
at the voice of the enemy, at the stares of the wicked; for they bring down suffering upon me4 and revile5 me in their anger.64
My heart is in anguish7 within me; the terrors8 of death assail me.
Fear and trembling9 have beset me; horror10 has overwhelmed me.
I said, "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest--
I would flee far away and stay in the desert;11 "Selah"
I would hurry to my place of shelter,12 far from the tempest and storm.13"
Confuse the wicked, O Lord, confound their speech,14 for I see violence and strife15 in the city.1610
Day and night they prowl17 about on its walls; malice and abuse are within it.
