Daniel 10:14

14 and came to make you understand what is to befall your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come."

Daniel 10:14 Meaning and Commentary

Daniel 10:14

Now I am come to make thee to understand what shall befall
thy people in the latter days
The contest being over with the prince of Persia, and having got an advantage, and carried his point in favour of the Jews; he came directly to Daniel, to inform him of what should befall the people of the Jews in the succeeding monarchies, especially in the times of Antiochus; and even of all that should befall them until the Messiah came, as Aben Ezra rightly interprets it; for the last days generally design the days of the Messiah; see ( Genesis 49:1 ) ( Isaiah 2:2 ) : for yet the vision is for many days;
before it will be accomplished; reaching not only to the times of Antiochus, three hundred years after this, but even to the times of antichrist, of whom he was a type; and to the resurrection of the dead, and the end of time, as the two next chapters show; see ( Habakkuk 2:3 ) .

Daniel 10:14 In-Context

12 Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your mind to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words.
13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, so I left him there with the prince of the kingdom of Persia
14 and came to make you understand what is to befall your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come."
15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, I turned my face toward the ground and was dumb.
16 And behold, one in the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, "O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and I retain no strength.
