17
Behold, thou art called a Jew,andrestest in the law,and makest thy boastofGod,
18
Andknowest his will,andapprovest[a] the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19
And art confident that thou thyselfart a guide of the blind, a light of them which are indarkness,
20
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledgeand of the truthin the law.
21
Thou thereforewhichteachestanother, teachest thounotthyself? thou that preachest a man shouldnotsteal, dost thou steal?
22
Thou that sayest a man shouldnot commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrestidols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23
Thou that makest thy boastof the law, throughbreaking the law dishonourest thouGod?
24
For the name of God is blasphemedamong the Gentilesthroughyou,as it is written.
25
Forcircumcisionverilyprofiteth, if thou keep the law:butif thou be a breaker of the law, thycircumcision is madeuncircumcision.
26
Thereforeif the uncircumcisionkeep the righteousness of the law, shallnothisuncircumcision be countedforcircumcision?
27
And shall notuncircumcision which is bynature, if it fulfil the law, judgethee, who by the letterandcircumcision dost transgress the law?
28
For he isnot a Jew, which is one outwardly*; neither is that circumcision, which is outward*in the flesh:
29
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly*; andcircumcision is that of the heart,in the spirit, and not in the letter;whosepraise is notofmen, butofGod.
