Psalm 2 (Today's New International Version)

View In My Bible
1 Why do the nations conspirea and the peoples plot1 in vain? 2 The kings2 of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the LORD and against his anointed,3 saying, 3 "Let us break their chains4 and throw off their shackles."5 4 The One enthroned6 in heaven laughs;7 the Lord scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger8 and terrifies them in his wrath,9 saying, 6 "I have installed my king10 on Zion,11 my holy mountain.12" 7 I will proclaim the LORD's decree: He said to me, "You are my son;13 today I have become your father.14 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations15 your inheritance,16 the ends of the earth17 your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of ironb;18 you will dash them to pieces19 like pottery.20" 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;21 be warned, you rulers22 of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear23 and celebrate his rule24 with trembling.25 12 Kiss his son,26 or he will be angry and you and your ways will be destroyed, for his wrath27 can flare up in a moment. Blessed28 are all who take refuge29 in him.
