My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace,1 since God has blessed you forever.23
Gird your sword3 on your side, you mighty one;4 clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.54
In your majesty ride forth victoriously6 in the cause of truth, humility and justice;7 let your right hand8 achieve awesome deeds.95
Let your sharp arrows10 pierce the hearts11 of the king's enemies;12 let the nations fall beneath your feet.
Your throne, O God,a will last for ever and ever;13 a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You love righteousness14 and hate wickedness;15 therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing16 you with the oil of joy.178
All your robes are fragrant18 with myrrh19 and aloes20 and cassia;21 from palaces adorned with ivory22 the music of the strings23 makes you glad.
Daughters of kings24 are among your honored women; at your right hand25 is the royal bride26 in gold of Ophir.2710
Listen, daughter,28 and pay careful attention:29 Forget your people30 and your father's house.
Let the king be enthralled by your beauty;31 honor32 him, for he is your lord.3312
The city of Tyre34 will come with a gift,b35 people of wealth will seek your favor.
All glorious36 is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold.3714
In embroidered garments38 she is led to the king;39 her virgin companions40 follow her-- those brought to be with her.
Led in with joy and gladness,41 they enter the palace of the king.
Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes42 throughout the land.
I will perpetuate your memory through all generations;43 therefore the nations will praise you44 for ever and ever.45
