9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!¹ Shout,² Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king^a comes to you,³ righteous and having salvation,⁴ gentle and riding on a donkey,⁵ on a colt, the foal of a donkey.⁶ 10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken.⁷ He will proclaim peace⁸ to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the River^b to the ends of the earth.^c⁹ 11 As for you, because of the blood of my covenant¹⁰ with you, I will free your prisoners¹¹ from the waterless pit.¹² 12 Return to your fortress,¹³ O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice¹⁴ as much to you.
