And when it wasday,certain of the Jews banded together*, and boundthemselves under a curse, saying that they wouldneithereatnordrinktillthey had killedPaul.

Nowthereforeyewith the councilsignify to the chief captainthat he bringhimdownuntoyou to morrow,as though ye wouldenquire something more perfectlyconcerninghim:andwe, or everhe come near, areready to killhim.

Sohetookhim, and brought him to the chief captain,andsaid, Paul the prisonercalledme unto him, and prayed me to bringthis young man untothee, who hathsomething to say unto thee.

And he said*, The Jews have agreed to desiretheethat thou wouldest bring downPaul to morrowinto the council,as though they wouldenquiresomewhatofhim more perfectly.

Butdonotthouyield unto them:for there lie in wait forhimofthem more thanfortymen,which have boundthemselves with an oath, that they willneithereatnordrinktillthey have killedhim:andnow are theyready, looking for a promisefromthee.

And he called untohimtwocenturions,saying, Make ready two hundredsoldierstogotoCaesarea,andhorsemen threescore and ten,andspearmen two hundred,at the thirdhour of the night;

And when it was toldme how that the Jews laid wait**for the man, I sentstraightwaytothee, and gave commandment to his accusersalso to saybeforethee what they had againsthim.Farewell.
