And it came to pass, that the father of Publiuslay sick of a feverand of a bloody flux:towhomPaul entered in, andprayed, and laid his handsonhim, and healedhim.

Sowhenthis was done, othersalso,whichhaddiseasesin the island,came, and were healed:

Whoalsohonouredus with manyhonours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Andafterthreemonths we departedin a ship of Alexandria, which had winteredin the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

AndlandingatSyracuse, we tarried there threedays.

And from thence we fetched a compass, and cametoRhegium:andafteroneday the south windblew, and we came the next daytoPuteoli:

Where we foundbrethren, and were desired to tarrywiththemsevendays:andso we wenttowardRome.

And from thence, when the brethrenheardofus, they came to meet*us as far asAppiiforum,and The threetaverns:whom when Paulsaw, he thankedGod, and tookcourage.

Andwhen we cametoRome, the centuriondelivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard:butPaul was suffered to dwellbyhimselfwith a soldier that kepthim.

And it came to pass, that afterthreedaysPaulcalled the chief* of the Jewstogether: and when they were come together, he saiduntothem,Men and brethren, though I have committednothingagainst the people,orcustoms of our fathers, yet was I deliveredprisonerfromJerusaleminto the hands of the Romans.

Who, when they had examinedme,would have let me go, because there wasnocause of deathinme.

But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar;notthat I hadought to accusemynationof.

Forthiscausetherefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because thatfor the hope of Israel I am bound withthischain.

And they saiduntohim,Weneitherreceivedletters out ofJudaeaconcerningthee,neitherany of the brethren that cameshewedorspakeanyharmofthee.

But we desire to hearoftheewhat thou thinkest: for as concerning*thissect,weknow*that every where it is spoken against.

And when they had appointedhim a day, there camemanytohiminto his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God*, persuadingthemconcerningJesus,both out of the law of Moses,and out of the prophets,frommorningtillevening.

Andsomebelieved the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

And when they agreed not*amongthemselves, they departed, after that Paul had spokenoneword*, Wellspake the HolyGhostbyEsaias the prophetuntoourfathers,

Saying, Gountothispeople,andsay, Hearing ye shall hear, andshallnotunderstand; andseeing ye shall see, andnotperceive:

For the heart of thispeople is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, andtheireyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes,andhear with their ears,andunderstand with their heart,and should be converted, and I should healthem.
