19 —¿Joab te incitó a hacer esto?
Y la mujer contestó:
—Mi señor el rey, ¿cómo podría negarlo? Nadie puede esconder nada de usted. Sí, Joab me envió y me dijo qué decir.

20 Lo hizo para que pueda ver el asunto con otros ojos. ¡Pero usted es tan sabio como un ángel de Dios, y comprende todo lo que sucede entre nosotros!

21 Entonces el rey mandó llamar a Joab y le dijo:
—Está bien, ve y trae de regreso al joven Absalón.

22 Joab se inclinó rostro en tierra con profundo respeto y dijo:
—Por fin sé que cuento con su favor, mi señor el rey, porque me ha concedido esta petición.

23 Enseguida Joab fue a Gesur y trajo a Absalón de regreso a Jerusalén.

24 Pero el rey dio esta orden: «Absalón puede ir a su propia casa, pero jamás vendrá a mi presencia». De manera que Absalón no vio al rey.

25 Absalón se reconcilia con David
Absalón era elogiado como el hombre más apuesto de todo Israel. De pies a cabeza era perfecto.

26 Se cortaba el cabello una vez al año, y lo hacía sólo porque era muy pesado. ¡El peso de su cabello era de más de dos kilos!

27 Tenía tres hijos y una hija. Su hija se llamaba Tamar, y era muy hermosa.

28 Absalón vivió dos años en Jerusalén, pero nunca pudo ver al rey.

29 Así que mandó llamar a Joab para pedirle que intercediera por él, pero Joab se negó a ir. Entonces Absalón volvió a enviar por él una segunda vez, pero de nuevo Joab se negó.

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND SAMUEL 14

This chapter relates that Joab, perceiving David's inclination to bring back Absalom, employed a wise woman of Tekoah to lay before him a feigned case of hers, drawn up by Joab, whereby this point was gained from the king, that murder might be dispensed with in her case, 2Sa 14:1-20; which being applied to the case of Absalom, and the king finding out that the hand of Joab was in this, sent for him, and ordered him to bring Absalom again, though as yet he would not see his face, 2Sa 14:21-24; and after some notice being taken of the beauty of Absalom's person, particularly of his head of hair, and of the number of his children, 2Sa 14:25-27; it is related, that after two full years Absalom was uneasy that he might not see the king's face, and sent for Joab, who refused to come to him, till he found means to oblige him to it, who, with the king's leave, introduced him to him, 2Sa 14:28-33.
