Jueces 8:9-19

9 Y él habló también a los de Peniel, diciendo: Cuando yo vuelva en paz, derribaré esta torre

10 Y Zeba y Zalmuna estaban en Carcor, y con ellos su ejército como de quince mil hombres, todos los que habían quedado de todo el ejército de los hijos del oriente; y los muertos habían sido ciento veinte mil hombres que sacaban espada

11 Y subiendo Gedeón por el camino de los que habitaban en tiendas, a la parte oriental de Noba y de Jogbeha, hirió el campamento, porque el campamento estaba seguro

12 Y huyendo Zeba y Zalmuna, él los siguió; y tomados los dos reyes de Madián, Zeba y Zalmuna, espantó a todo el ejército

13 Y Gedeón hijo de Joás volvió de la batalla antes que el sol subiera

14 y tomó a un joven de los de Sucot, y preguntándole, él le dio por escrito los principales de Sucot y sus ancianos, setenta y siete varones

15 Y entrando a los de Sucot, dijo: He aquí a Zeba y a Zalmuna, sobre los cuales me zaheristeis, diciendo: ¿Está ya la mano de Zeba y de Zalmuna en tu mano, para que demos nosotros pan a tus varones cansados

16 Y tomó a los ancianos de la ciudad, y espinas y abrojos del desierto, y enseñó con ellos a los de Sucot

17 Asimismo derribó la torre de Peniel, y mató a los de la ciudad

18 Luego dijo a Zeba y a Zalmuna: ¿Qué manera de hombres tenían aquellos que matasteis en Tabor? Y ellos respondieron: Como tú, tales eran aquellos ni más ni menos, que parecían hijos de rey

19 Y él dijo: Mis hermanos eran, hijos de mi madre. ¡Vive el SEÑOR, que si los hubierais guardado en vida, yo no os mataría

INTRODUCTION TO JUDGES 8

In this chapter we are told how Gideon pacified the Ephraimites, who complained because they were not sent unto to fight the Midianites, Jud 8:1-3 how he pursued the Midianites, until he took their two kings, and on his return chastised the men of Succoth and Penuel, because they refused to relieve his men with food as they were pursuing, Jud 8:4-17 how he slew the two kings of Midian, Jud 8:18-21 and after this conquest refused to take the government of Israel when offered him, Jud 8:22,23 how he requested of the Israelites the earrings they had taken from the Midianites, with which he in weakness made an ephod, which proved a snare to his house, Jud 8:24-27 how that the people were in peace forty years during his life, and that he had a numerous issue, and died in a good old age, Jud 8:28-32 but that after his death the Israelites fell into idolatry, and were ungrateful to his family, Jud 8:33-35.
