So they casthim out of the vineyard, and killed him. Whatthereforeshall the lord of the vineyarddo unto them?

He shall comeanddestroythesehusbandmen,and shall give the vineyard to others.And when they heard it, they said, God forbid*.

And he beheldthem, and said, Whatisthisthen that is written, The stonewhich the buildersrejected, the same is become the headof the corner?

Whosoever shall falluponthatstone shall be broken; butonwhomsoeverit shall fall, it will grindhim to powder.

And the chief priestsand the scribes the same*hoursought to layhandsonhim;and they feared the people:for they perceivedthat he had spokenthisparableagainstthem.

And they watched him, and sent forthspies, which should feign*themselves just men,that they might take hold of hiswords, that so they might deliverhim unto the powerandauthority of the governor.

And they askedhim,saying, Master, we knowthat thou sayestandteachestrightly*, neither acceptest thou the person of any, butteachest the way of Godtruly*:[a]

Is it lawful for us to givetribute unto Caesar,orno?

But he perceivedtheircraftiness, and saiduntothem,Why tempt yeme?

Shewme a penny.Whoseimageandsuperscription hath it? They answeredandsaid, Caesar's.

And he said unto them,Rendertherefore unto Caesar the things which beCaesar's,and unto God the things which beGod's.
