Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: "Forgive1 all our sins and receive us graciously,2 that we may offer the fruit of our lips.a33
Assyria cannot save us;4 we will not mount war-horses.5 We will never again say 'Our gods'6 to what our own hands have made,7 for in you the fatherless8 find compassion."
"I will heal9 their waywardness10 and love them freely,11 for my anger has turned away12 from them.
I will be like the dew13 to Israel; he will blossom like a lily.14 Like a cedar of Lebanon15 he will send down his roots;166
his young shoots will grow. His splendor will be like an olive tree,17 his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.187
Men will dwell again in his shade.19 He will flourish like the grain. He will blossom20 like a vine, and his fame will be like the wine21 from Lebanon.228
O Ephraim, what more have Ib to do with idols?23 I will answer him and care for him. I am like a green pine24 tree; your fruitfulness comes from me."
Who is wise?25 He will realize these things. Who is discerning? He will understand them.26 The ways of the LORD are right;27 the righteous walk28 in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.
