Who has believed our message1 and to whom has the arm2 of the LORD been revealed?32
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,4 and like a root5 out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance6 that we should desire him.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows,7 and familiar with suffering.8 Like one from whom men hide9 their faces he was despised,10 and we esteemed him not.
