Remember the wonders1 he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,26
O descendants of Abraham his servant,3 O sons of Jacob, his chosen4 ones.
He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
He remembers his covenant5 forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations,
the covenant he made with Abraham,6 the oath he swore to Isaac.
He confirmed it7 to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:811
"To you I will give the land of Canaan9 as the portion you will inherit."1012
When they were but few in number,11 few indeed, and strangers in it,1213
they wandered from nation to nation,13 from one kingdom to another.
He allowed no one to oppress14 them; for their sake he rebuked kings:1515
"Do not touch16 my anointed ones; do my prophets17 no harm."
He called down famine18 on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food;
and he sent a man before them-- Joseph, sold as a slave.1918
They bruised his feet with shackles,20 his neck was put in irons,
till what he foretold21 came to pass, till the word22 of the LORD proved him true.
The king sent and released him, the ruler of peoples set him free.2321
He made him master of his household, ruler over all he possessed,
to instruct his princes24 as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.2523
Then Israel entered Egypt;26 Jacob lived27 as an alien in the land of Ham.2824
The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them too numerous29 for their foes,
whose hearts he turned30 to hate his people, to conspire31 against his servants.
He sent Moses32 his servant, and Aaron,33 whom he had chosen.3427
They performed35 his miraculous signs36 among them, his wonders37 in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness38 and made the land dark-- for had they not rebelled against39 his words?
He turned their waters into blood,40 causing their fish to die.4130
Their land teemed with frogs,42 which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers.
He spoke,43 and there came swarms of flies,44 and gnats45 throughout their country.
He turned their rain into hail,46 with lightning throughout their land;
he struck down their vines47 and fig trees48 and shattered the trees of their country.
He spoke,49 and the locusts came,50 grasshoppers51 without number;5235
they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil.
Then he struck down all the firstborn53 in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood.
He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,54 and from among their tribes no one faltered.
Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel55 had fallen on them.
He spread out a cloud56 as a covering, and a fire to give light at night.5740
They asked,58 and he brought them quail59 and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.6041
He opened the rock,61 and water gushed out; like a river it flowed in the desert.
For he remembered his holy promise62 given to his servant Abraham.
He brought out his people with rejoicing,63 his chosen ones with shouts of joy;
he gave them the lands of the nations,64 and they fell heir to what others had toiled65 for--
that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws.66 Praise the LORD.a67
