1 O LORD, hear my prayer,1 listen to my cry for mercy;2 in your faithfulness3 and righteousness4 come to my relief. 2 Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous5 before you. 3 The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness6 like those long dead.7 4 So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.8 5 I remember9 the days of long ago; I meditate10 on all your works and consider what your hands have done. 6 I spread out my hands11 to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. "Selah" 7 Answer me quickly,12 O LORD; my spirit fails.13 Do not hide your face14 from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. 8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,15 for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way16 I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.17 9 Rescue me18 from my enemies,19 O LORD, for I hide myself in you. 10 Teach me20 to do your will, for you are my God;21 may your good Spirit lead22 me on level ground.23 11 For your name's sake,24 O LORD, preserve my life;25 in your righteousness,26 bring me out of trouble. 12 In your unfailing love, silence my enemies;27 destroy all my foes,28 for I am your servant.29Scripture quoted by permission.
