Psalm 55:3-11 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
3 at the voice of the enemy, at the stares of the wicked; for they bring down suffering upon me1 and revile2 me in their anger.3 4 My heart is in anguish4 within me; the terrors5 of death assail me. 5 Fear and trembling6 have beset me; horror7 has overwhelmed me. 6 I said, "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest-- 7 I would flee far away and stay in the desert;8 "Selah" 8 I would hurry to my place of shelter,9 far from the tempest and storm.10" 9 Confuse the wicked, O Lord, confound their speech,11 for I see violence and strife12 in the city.13 10 Day and night they prowl14 about on its walls; malice and abuse are within it. 11 Destructive forces15 are at work in the city; threats and lies16 never leave its streets.
