For by him all things were created:1 things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;2 all things were created by him and for him.317
He is before all things,4 and in him all things hold together.
And he is the head5 of the body, the church;6 he is the beginning and the firstborn7 from among the dead,8 so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased9 to have all his fullness10 dwell in him,
and through him to reconcile11 to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven,12 by making peace13 through his blood,14 shed on the cross.
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies15 in your minds16 because ofa your evil behavior.
But now he has reconciled17 you by Christ's physical body18 through death to present you19 holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation20--
if you continue21 in your faith, established22 and firm, not moved from the hope23 held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven,24 and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.25
Now I rejoice26 in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions,27 for the sake of his body, which is the church.2825
I have become its servant29 by the commission God gave me30 to present to you the word of God31 in its fullness--
the mystery32 that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.
