He is before all things,1 and in him all things hold together.
And he is the head2 of the body, the church;3 he is the beginning and the firstborn4 from among the dead,5 so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased6 to have all his fullness7 dwell in him,
and through him to reconcile8 to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven,9 by making peace10 through his blood,11 shed on the cross.
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies12 in your minds13 because ofa your evil behavior.
But now he has reconciled14 you by Christ's physical body15 through death to present you16 holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation17--
if you continue18 in your faith, established19 and firm, not moved from the hope20 held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven,21 and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.22
Now I rejoice23 in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions,24 for the sake of his body, which is the church.2525
I have become its servant26 by the commission God gave me27 to present to you the word of God28 in its fullness--
the mystery29 that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.
To them God has chosen to make known30 among the Gentiles the glorious riches31 of this mystery, which is Christ in you,32 the hope of glory.
