Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk1 or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.25
For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater3--has any inheritance4 in the kingdom of Christ and of God.a56
Let no one deceive you6 with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath7 comes on those who are disobedient.87
Therefore do not be partners with them.
For you were once9 darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light109
(for the fruit11 of the light consists in all goodness,12 righteousness and truth)
and find out what pleases the Lord.1311
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness,14 but rather expose them.
For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
But everything exposed by the light15 becomes visible,
for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper,16 rise from the dead,17 and Christ will shine on you."18
