Matthew 6:4-14

4 so that your giving may be in secret. ¹And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

The Lord's Prayer

5 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love ²to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. ³Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

6 But when you pray, ⁴go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. ⁵And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

7 "And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as ⁶the Gentiles do, for ⁷they think that they will be heard ⁸for their many words.

8 Do not be like them, ⁹for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

9 ¹⁰Pray then like this: ¹¹"Our Father in heaven, ¹²hallowed be ¹³your name.^[a]

10 ¹⁴Your kingdom come, ¹⁵your will be done,^[b] ¹⁶on earth as it is in heaven.

11 ¹⁷Give us ¹⁸this day our daily bread,^[c]

12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13 And ¹⁹lead us not into temptation, but ²⁰deliver us from ²¹evil.^[d]

14 ²²For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you,
