The Song of Moses and Miriam

1 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song¹ to the LORD: "I will sing² to the LORD, for he is highly exalted. The horse and its rider³ he has hurled into the sea.⁴ 2 The LORD is my strength⁵ and my song; he has become my salvation.⁶ He is my God,⁷ and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt⁸ him. 3 The LORD is a warrior;⁹ the LORD is his name.¹⁰ 4 Pharaoh's chariots and his army¹¹ he has hurled into the sea. The best of Pharaoh's officers are drowned in the Red Sea.^a 5 The deep waters¹² have covered them; they sank to the depths like a stone.¹³ 6 "Your right hand,¹⁴ O LORD, was majestic in power. Your right hand,¹⁵ O LORD, shattered¹⁶ the enemy. 7 In the greatness of your majesty¹⁷ you threw down those who opposed you. You unleashed your burning anger;¹⁸ it consumed¹⁹ them like stubble. 8 By the blast of your nostrils²⁰ the waters piled up.²¹ The surging waters stood firm like a wall;²² the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.²³
