Then Boazsaid to Ruth, "Listencarefully, my daughter. Do not go to glean in anotherfield; furthermore, do not go on from thisone, but stayhere with my maids.

"Let your eyes be on the fieldwhich they reap, and goafter them. Indeed, I have commanded the servants not to touch you. When you are thirsty, go to the waterjars and drink from what the servantsdraw."

Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground and said to him, "Why have I foundfavor in your sight that you should takenotice of me, since I am a foreigner?"

Boazreplied to her, "All that you have done for your mother-in-lawafter the death of your husband has been fullyreported to me, and how you left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and came to a people that you did not previouslyknow.

Then she said, "I have foundfavor in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me and indeed have spokenkindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants."

At mealtime*Boazsaid to her, "Comehere, that you may eat of the bread and dip your piece of bread in the vinegar." So she satbeside* the reapers; and he served her roastedgrain, and she ate and was satisfied and had some left.
