And it came to pass, that onone of thosedays, as hetaught the peoplein the temple,and preached the gospel, the chief priestsand the scribes came upon him with the elders,

Then began he to speakto the peoplethisparable;A certainmanplanted a vineyard,andletitforth to husbandmen,and went into a far country for a longtime.

Andat the season he sent a servantto the husbandmen,that they should givehimof the fruit of the vineyard:but the husbandmenbeathim, and sent him awayempty.

And the chief priestsand the scribes the same*hoursought to layhandsonhim;and they feared the people:for they perceivedthat he had spokenthisparableagainstthem.

And they watched him, and sent forthspies, which should feign*themselves just men,that they might take hold of hiswords, that so they might deliverhim unto the powerandauthority of the governor.

And they askedhim,saying, Master, we knowthat thou sayestandteachestrightly*, neither acceptest thou the person of any, butteachest the way of Godtruly*:

Saying, Master,Moseswrote unto us,If any man'sbrotherdie, having a wife,andhedie without children,thathisbrother should take his wife,and raise upseed unto hisbrother.

Bewareof the scribes,whichdesire to walkin long robes,andlovegreetingsin the markets,and the highest seatsin the synagogues,and the chief roomsatfeasts;
