Therefore the Lord, the LORD Almighty, the Mighty One1 of Israel, declares: "Ah, I will get relief from my foes and avenge2 myself on my enemies.325
I will turn my hand against you;4 I will thoroughly purge5 away your dross6 and remove all your impurities.726
I will restore your judges as in days of old,8 your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called9 the City of Righteousness,10 the Faithful City.11"
Zion will be redeemed with justice, her penitent12 ones with righteousness.1328
But rebels and sinners14 will both be broken, and those who forsake15 the LORD will perish.1629
"You will be ashamed17 because of the sacred oaks18 in which you have delighted; you will be disgraced because of the gardens19 that you have chosen.
You will be like an oak with fading leaves,20 like a garden without water.
The mighty man will become tinder and his work a spark; both will burn together, with no one to quench the fire.21"
