Unless the LORD Almighty had left us some survivors,1 we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.210
Hear the word of the LORD,3 you rulers of Sodom;4 listen to the law5 of our God, you people of Gomorrah!611
"The multitude of your sacrifices-- what are they to me?" says the LORD. "I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals;7 I have no pleasure8 in the blood of bulls9 and lambs and goats.1012
When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you,11 this trampling of my courts?
Stop bringing meaningless offerings!12 Your incense13 is detestable14 to me. New Moons,15 Sabbaths and convocations16-- I cannot bear your evil assemblies.
Your New Moon17 festivals and your appointed feasts18 my soul hates.19 They have become a burden to me;20 I am weary21 of bearing them.
When you spread out your hands22 in prayer, I will hide23 my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen.24 Your hands25 are full of blood;2616
wash27 and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight!28 Stop doing wrong,2917
learn to do right!30 Seek justice,31 encourage the oppressed.a32 Defend the cause of the fatherless,33 plead the case of the widow.3418
"Come now, let us reason together,"35 says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;36 though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.3719
If you are willing and obedient,38 you will eat the best from the land;39
