Therefore once more I will astound these people with wonder upon wonder;1 the wisdom of the wise2 will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish.3"
Woe to those who go to great depths to hide4 their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, "Who sees us?5 Who will know?"616
You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!7 Shall what is formed say to him who formed8 it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter,9 "He knows nothing"?1017
In a very short time,11 will not Lebanon12 be turned into a fertile field13 and the fertile field seem like a forest?1418
In that day15 the deaf16 will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness17 the eyes of the blind will see.1819
Once more the humble19 will rejoice in the LORD; the needy20 will rejoice in the Holy One21 of Israel.
The ruthless22 will vanish,23 the mockers24 will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil25 will be cut down--
those who with a word make a man out to be guilty, who ensnare the defender in court26 and with false testimony27 deprive the innocent of justice.2822
Therefore this is what the LORD, who redeemed29 Abraham,30 says to the house of Jacob: "No longer will Jacob be ashamed;31 no longer will their faces grow pale.3223
When they see among them their children,33 the work of my hands,34 they will keep my name holy;35 they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One36 of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
Those who are wayward37 in spirit will gain understanding;38 those who complain will accept instruction."39
