He pursues them and moves on unscathed,1 by a path his feet have not traveled before.
Who has done this and carried it through, calling2 forth the generations from the beginning?3 I, the LORD--with the first of them and with the last4--I am he.5"
The islands6 have seen it and fear; the ends of the earth7 tremble. They approach and come forward;
each helps the other and says to his brother, "Be strong!8"
The craftsman9 encourages the goldsmith,10 and he who smooths with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil. He says of the welding, "It is good." He nails down the idol so it will not topple.118
"But you, O Israel, my servant,12 Jacob, whom I have chosen,13 you descendants of Abraham14 my friend,159
I took you from the ends of the earth,16 from its farthest corners I called17 you. I said, 'You are my servant';18 I have chosen19 you and have not rejected you.
So do not fear,20 for I am with you;21 do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen22 you and help23 you; I will uphold you24 with my righteous right hand.2511
"All who rage26 against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced;27 those who oppose28 you will be as nothing and perish.2912
Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them.30 Those who wage war against you will be as nothing31 at all.
For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand32 and says to you, Do not fear; I will help33 you.
