View In My Bible
7 "For a brief moment1 I abandoned2 you, but with deep compassion3 I will bring you back.4 8 In a surge of anger5 I hid6 my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness7 I will have compassion8 on you," says the LORD your Redeemer.9 9 "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.10 So now I have sworn11 not to be angry12 with you, never to rebuke13 you again. 10 Though the mountains be shaken1415 and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love16 for you will not be shaken17 nor my covenant18 of peace19 be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion20 on you. 11 "O afflicted21 city, lashed by storms22 and not comforted,23 I will build you with stones of turquoise,a24 your foundations25 with sapphires.b26 12 I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates27 of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones. 13 All your sons will be taught by the LORD,28 and great will be your children's peace.29 14 In righteousness30 you will be established:31 Tyranny32 will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear.33 Terror34 will be far removed; it will not come near you. 15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender35 to you. 16 "See, it is I who created the blacksmith36 who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon37 fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer38 to work havoc; 17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,39 and you will refute40 every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants41 of the LORD, and this is their vindication42 from me," declares the LORD.
