I will refresh the weary1 and satisfy the faint."226
At this I awoke3 and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me.
"The days are coming,"4 declares the LORD, "when I will plant5 the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the offspring of men and of animals.
Just as I watched6 over them to uproot7 and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster,8 so I will watch over them to build and to plant,"9 declares the LORD.
"In those days people will no longer say, 'The fathers10 have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.'1130
Instead, everyone will die for his own sin;12 whoever eats sour grapes--his own teeth will be set on edge.
"The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant13 with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant14 I made with their forefathers15 when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt,16 because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband17 toa them,b " declares the LORD.
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds18 and write it on their hearts.19 I will be their God, and they will be my people.2034
No longer will a man teach21 his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know22 me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive23 their wickedness and will remember their sins24 no more."
This is what the LORD says, he who appoints25 the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night,26 who stirs up the sea27 so that its waves roar28-- the LORD Almighty is his name:29
