I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt,1 O Virgin2 Israel. Again you will take up your tambourines3 and go out to dance4 with the joyful.55
Again you will plant6 vineyards on the hills of Samaria;7 the farmers will plant them and enjoy their fruit.86
There will be a day when watchmen9 cry out on the hills of Ephraim, 'Come, let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.' "107
This is what the LORD says: "Sing11 with joy for Jacob; shout for the foremost12 of the nations. Make your praises heard, and say, 'O LORD, save13 your people, the remnant14 of Israel.'
See, I will bring them from the land of the north15 and gather16 them from the ends of the earth. Among them will be the blind17 and the lame,18 expectant mothers and women in labor; a great throng will return.
They will come with weeping;19 they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead20 them beside streams of water21 on a level22 path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel's father,23 and Ephraim is my firstborn son.
"Hear the word of the LORD, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:24 'He who scattered25 Israel will gather26 them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.'2711
For the LORD will ransom Jacob and redeem28 them from the hand of those stronger29 than they.
They will come and shout for joy30 on the heights31 of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty32 of the LORD-- the grain, the new wine and the oil,33 the young of the flocks34 and herds. They will be like a well-watered garden,35 and they will sorrow36 no more.
Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning37 into gladness; I will give them comfort38 and joy39 instead of sorrow.
I will satisfy40 the priests41 with abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty,42" declares the LORD.
