Mark 13:21

21 "And at that time if anyone should say to you, "Behold, here [is] the Christ,' 'Behold, there [he is],' do not believe [him]!

Mark 13:21 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 13:21

And then if any man shall say to you
During those days of tribulation and affliction, or when shortened and at an end:

lo! [here is] Christ, or lo! [he is] there;
the Messiah has appeared in such or in such a place, to deliver you from your national distresses and calamities, and from the Roman yoke and bondage:

believe him not;
give no credit to such a report, for the reason following; (See Gill on Matthew 24:23).

Mark 13:21 In-Context

19 For [in] those days there will be tribulation of such a kind as has not happened from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will happen.
20 And if the Lord had not shortened the days, {no human being would be saved}. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he has shortened the days.
21 "And at that time if anyone should say to you, "Behold, here [is] the Christ,' 'Behold, there [he is],' do not believe [him]!
22 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce signs and wonders in order to mislead, if possible, the elect.
23 But you, watch out! I have told you everything ahead of time!
