11Therefore, I exhort the eldersamong you, as your 2fellowelder and 3witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a 4partakeralso of the glory that is to be revealed,
2shepherd5the flock of Godamong you, exercising oversight6not undercompulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and 7not for sordidgain, but with eagerness;
3nor yet as 8lording it overathoseallotted to your charge, but bproving to be 9examples to the flock.
And when the Chief10Shepherdappears, you will receive the 11unfadingc12crown of glory.
513You youngermen, likewise, 14be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with 15humility toward oneanother, for 16GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVESGRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
6Therefore17humble yourselves under the mightyhand of God, that He may exalt you at the propertime,
7castingall your 18anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
819Be of sober spirit, 20be on the alert. Your adversary, 21the devil, prowlsaroundlike a roaring22lion, seekingsomeone to devour.
9d23But resist him, 24firm in your faith, knowing that 25the sameexperiences of suffering are being accomplished by your ebrethren who are in the world.
After you have suffered26for a littlewhile, the 27God of allgrace, who 28called you to His 29eternalglory in Christ, will Himself30perfect, 31confirm, strengthen and establish you.
1132To Him be dominionforever and ever. Amen.
12Through33Silvanus, our faithfulbrotherf(for so I regard him), 34I have written to you briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is 35the truegrace of God. 36Standfirm in it!
She who is in Babylon, chosentogether with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son, 37Mark.
1438Greetoneanother with a kiss of love. 39Peace be to you allwho are in Christ.
