1As to this salvation, the prophets who 2prophesied of the 3grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries,

aseeking to know what person or time 4the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He 5predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories bto follow .

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who 6preached the gospel to you by 7the Holy Spirit sent from heaven -things into which 8angels long to clook.

Therefore, d9prepare your minds for action, e10keep sober in spirit, fix your 11hope completely on the 12grace fto be brought to you at 13the revelation of Jesus Christ.

As g14obedient children, do not h15be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your 16ignorance,

but i17like the Holy One who called you, j18be holy yourselves also 19in all your behavior ;

because it is written, "20YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."

If you 21address as Father the One who 22impartially 23judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves 24in fear during the time of your 25stay on earth;
18
knowing that you were not k26redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your 27futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
19
but with precious 28blood, as of a 29lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

For He was 30foreknown before 31the foundation of the world, but has 32appeared lin these last times 33for the sake of you
