3 1Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who 2according to His great mercy 3has caused us to be born again to 4a living hope through the 5resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an 6inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and 7will not fade away, 8reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are 9protected by the power of God 10through faith for 11a salvation ready 12to be revealed in the last time. 6 13In this you greatly rejoice, even though now 14for a little while, 15if necessary, you have been distressed by 16various atrials, 7 so that the b17proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which cis perishable, 18even though tested by fire, 19may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at 20the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8 and 21though you have not seen Him, you 22love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and dfull of glory, 9 obtaining as 23the outcome of your faith the salvation of eyour souls. 10 24As to this salvation, the prophets who 25prophesied of the 26grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11 fseeking to know what person or time 27the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He 28predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories gto follow . 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who 29preached the gospel to you by 30the Holy Spirit sent from heaven -things into which 31angels long to hlook. 13 Therefore, i32prepare your minds for action, j33keep sober in spirit, fix your 34hope completely on the 35grace kto be brought to you at 36the revelation of Jesus Christ.
