and if He 1condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an 2example to those who would3liveungodly lives thereafter ;

and if He 4rescuedrighteousLot, oppressed by the 5sensualconduct of 6unprincipledmen8
(for by what he saw and heard that 7righteousman, while livingamong them, felt his righteoussoultormenteddayafterday by their lawlessdeeds ),
98then the Lordknowshow to rescue the godly from atemptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the 9day of judgment,

and especiallythose who b10indulge the flesh in its corruptdesires and 11despiseauthority. Daring, 12self-willed, they do not tremble when they 13revile angelic cmajesties,
1114whereasangels who are greater in might and power do not bring a revilingjudgmentagainst them before the Lord.

But 15these, likeunreasoninganimals, 16born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, revilingwhere they havenoknowledge, will in dthe destruction of those creatures also be destroyed,

suffering wrong as 17the wages of doingwrong. They count it a pleasure to 18revel in the 19daytime. They are stains and blemishes, 20reveling in their edeceptions, as they 21carouse with you,
14havingeyesfull of adultery that nevercease from sin, 22enticing23unstablesouls, having a hearttrained in 24greed, 25accursedchildren ;
15forsaking26the rightway, they have goneastray, having followed27the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, wholoved28the wages of unrighteousness ;
16
but he received a rebuke for his owntransgression, 29for a mutedonkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet.
