Now the chiefpriests and the whole6Council kept trying to obtaintestimonyagainstJesus to put Him to death, and they were not finding any.

For many were givingfalsetestimonyagainst Him, but their testimony was not consistent.

Somestood up and began to givefalsetestimonyagainst Him, saying,

"We heard Him say, '7I will destroythistemplemade with hands, and in threedays I will buildanothermadewithouthands.' "

Not even in thisrespect was their testimonyconsistent.
