Isaías 6:2-12

2 Lo asistían poderosos serafines, cada uno tenía seis alas. Con dos alas se cubrían el rostro, con dos se cubrían los pies y con dos volaban.

3 Se decían unos a otros:
«¡Santo, santo, santo es el Señor
de los Ejércitos Celestiales!
¡Toda la tierra está llena de su gloria!».

4 Sus voces sacudían el templo hasta los cimientos, y todo el edificio estaba lleno de humo.

5 Entonces dije: «¡Todo se ha acabado para mí! Estoy condenado, porque soy un pecador. Tengo labios impuros, y vivo en medio de un pueblo de labios impuros; sin embargo, he visto al Rey, el Señor
de los Ejércitos Celestiales».

6 Entonces uno de los serafines voló hacia mí con un carbón encendido que había tomado del altar con unas tenazas.

7 Con él tocó mis labios y dijo: «¿Ves? Este carbón te ha tocado los labios. Ahora tu culpa ha sido quitada, y tus pecados perdonados».

8 Después oí que el Señor preguntaba: «¿A quién enviaré como mensajero a este pueblo? ¿Quién irá por nosotros?».
—Aquí estoy yo —le dije—. Envíame a mí.

9 Y él me dijo:
—Bien, ve y dile a este pueblo:
“Escuchen con atención, pero no entiendan;
miren bien, pero no aprendan nada”.

10 Endurece el corazón de este pueblo;
tápales los oídos y ciérrales los ojos.
De esa forma, no verán con sus ojos,
ni oirán con sus oídos,
ni comprenderán con su corazón
para que no se vuelvan a mí en busca de sanidad.

11 Entonces yo dije:
—Señor, ¿cuánto tiempo durará esto?
Y él contestó:
—Hasta que sus ciudades queden vacías,
sus casas queden desiertas
y la tierra entera quede seca y baldía;

12 hasta que el Señor
haya mandado a todos lejos
y toda la tierra de Israel quede desierta.

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH 6

This chapter contains a vision of the glory and majesty of Christ, the mission and commission of the prophet, and the destruction of the Jews. In the vision may be observed the time of it, and the object seen; who is described by the throne on which he sat, Isa 6:1 and by his ministers about him; and these, by their name, by their situation, by their wings and the use of them, and by their employment, Isa 6:2,3 and by the effects their crying to one another had upon the place where they were, Isa 6:4 and next follows the effect the whole vision had on the prophet, which threw him into great distress of mind; and the relief he had by one of the seraphim, and the manner of it, Isa 6:6,7 upon which a question being put, concerning sending some person, the prophet makes answer, expressing his readiness to go, Isa 6:8 when a commission is given him, and the message he is sent with is declared, Isa 6:9,10 whereupon he asks how long it would be the case of the Jews mentioned in the message he was sent with; and he is told it would continue until the utter destruction of them, Isa 6:11,12 and yet, for the comfort of him and other saints, it is intimated that there would be a remnant among them, according to the election of grace, Isa 6:13.
