The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.123
Then man goes out to his work,2 to his labor until evening.324
How many are your works,4 O LORD! In wisdom you made5 them all; the earth is full of your creatures.625
There is the sea,7 vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small.826
There the ships9 go to and fro, and the leviathan,10 which you formed to frolic11 there.1227
These all look to you to give them their food13 at the proper time.
When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied14 with good things.
When you hide your face,15 they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust.1630
When you send your Spirit,17 they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the LORD18 endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works19--
he who looks at the earth, and it trembles,20 who touches the mountains,21 and they smoke.22
