I said, "O LORD, have mercy1 on me; heal2 me, for I have sinned3 against you."
My enemies say of me in malice, "When will he die and his name perish?4"
Whenever one comes to see me, he speaks falsely,5 while his heart gathers slander;6 then he goes out and spreads7 it abroad.
All my enemies whisper together8 against me; they imagine the worst for me, saying,
"A vile disease has beset him; he will never get up9 from the place where he lies."
Even my close friend,10 whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.1110
But you, O LORD, have mercy12 on me; raise me up,13 that I may repay14 them.
I know that you are pleased with me,15 for my enemy does not triumph over me.1612
In my integrity17 you uphold me18 and set me in your presence forever.1913
Praise20 be to the LORD, the God of Israel,21 from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.22
