and the way of peace they do not know."a118
"There is no fear of God before their eyes."b219
Now we know that whatever the law says,3 it says to those who are under the law,4 so that every mouth may be silenced5 and the whole world held accountable to God.620
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law;7 rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.8
But now a righteousness from God,9 apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.1022
This righteousness from God11 comes through faith12 in Jesus Christ13 to all who believe.14 There is no difference,1523
for all have sinned16 and fall short of the glory of God,
and are justified17 freely by his grace18 through the redemption19 that came by Christ Jesus.
God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,c20 through faith in his blood.21 He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished22--
he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Where, then, is boasting?23 It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith.
