He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

When King Hezekiah's officials came to Isaiah,
-
Isaiah said to them, "Tell your master, 'This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard--those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

[Isaiah Prophesies Sennacherib's Fall] [19:20-37pp -- Isa 37:21-38 19:35-37pp -- 2Ch 32:20-21] Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.
-
[Hezekiah's Illness] [20:1-11pp -- 2Ch 32:24-26; Isa 38:1-8] In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover."
-
Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him:
-
Then Isaiah said, "Prepare a poultice of figs." They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.
-
Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, "What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the LORD on the third day from now?"
-
Isaiah answered, "This is the LORD's sign to you that the LORD will do what he has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?"
-
Then the prophet Isaiah called upon the LORD, and the LORD made the shadow go back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.
-
Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, "What did those men say, and where did they come from?" "From a distant land," Hezekiah replied. "They came from Babylon."
-
Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD:
-
The other events of Uzziah's reign, from beginning to end, are recorded by the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.
-
King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz cried out in prayer to heaven about this.
-
The other events of Hezekiah's reign and his acts of devotion are written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
-
The vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
-
[The Mountain of the LORD] [2:1-4pp -- Mic 4:1-3] This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:
-
[Isaiah's Commission] In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
-
Then the LORD said to Isaiah, "Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub, to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Washerman's Field.
-
Then Isaiah said, "Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Will you try the patience of my God also?
-
[A Prophecy Against Babylon] An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:
-
at that time the LORD spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, "Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet." And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot.
-
Then the LORD said, "Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush,
-
He sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the secretary, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

[Sennacherib's Fall] [37:21-38pp -- 2Ki 19:20-37; 2Ch 32:20-21] Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,

[Hezekiah's Illness] [38:1-8pp -- 2Ki 20:1-11; 2Ch 32:24-26] In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, "This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover."

-
Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD Almighty:
-
This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.' "
-
to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
-
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."
-
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
-
In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: " 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
-
You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
-
It is written in Isaiah the prophet: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way"--
-
He replied, "Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: " 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
-
As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.
-
The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
-
John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.' "
-
This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet: "Lord, who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
-
For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere:
-
Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus' glory and spoke about him.
-
and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet.
-
Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked.
-
They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your forefathers when he said through Isaiah the prophet:
-
Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: "Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.
-
It is just as Isaiah said previously: "Unless the Lord Almighty had left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah."
-
But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"
-
And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."
-
And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him."
