A Message to Baruch

1 When Baruch1 son of Neriah2 wrote on a scroll3 the words Jeremiah the prophet dictated in the fourth year of Jehoiakim4 son of Josiah king of Judah, Jeremiah said this to Baruch: 2 "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch: 3 You said, 'Woe5 to me! The LORD has added sorrow6 to my pain;7 I am worn out with groaning8 and find no rest.'9 4 But the LORD has told me to say to you, 'This is what the LORD says: I will overthrow what I have built and uproot10 what I have planted,11 throughout the earth.12 5 Should you then seek great13 things for yourself ? Do not seek them.14 For I will bring disaster15 on all people,16 declares the LORD, but wherever you go I will let you escape17 with your life.' "18
