Foreigners will occupy Ashdod, and I will cut off1 the pride of the Philistines.
I will take the blood from their mouths, the forbidden food from between their teeth. Those who are left will belong to our God2 and become leaders in Judah, and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.38
But I will defend4 my house against marauding forces.5 Never again will an oppressor overrun my people, for now I am keeping watch.6
Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion!7 Shout,8 Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your kinga comes to you,9 righteous and having salvation,10 gentle and riding on a donkey,11 on a colt, the foal of a donkey.1210
I will take away the chariots from Ephraim and the war-horses from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be broken.13 He will proclaim peace14 to the nations. His rule will extend from sea to sea and from the Riverb to the ends of the earth.c1511
As for you, because of the blood of my covenant16 with you, I will free your prisoners17 from the waterless pit.1812
Return to your fortress,19 O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice20 as much to you.
I will bend Judah as I bend my bow21 and fill it with Ephraim.22 I will rouse your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece,23 and make you like a warrior's sword.24
Then the LORD will appear over them;25 his arrow will flash like lightning.26 The Sovereign LORD will sound the trumpet;27 he will march in the storms28 of the south,
and the LORD Almighty will shield29 them. They will destroy and overcome with slingstones.30 They will drink and roar as with wine;31 they will be full like a bowl32 used for sprinklingd the corners33 of the altar.
The LORD their God will save them on that day34 as the flock of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown.35
