And they reasonedwiththemselves,saying*, If we shall say, Fromheaven; he will say, Whythen believed yehimnot?

But andif we say, Ofmen;all the people will stoneus:for they bepersuaded that Johnwas a prophet.

And they answered, that they couldnottellwhence it was.

AndJesussaid unto them,NeithertellIyoubywhatauthority I do these things.

Then began he to speakto the peoplethisparable;A certainmanplanted a vineyard,andletitforth to husbandmen,and went into a far country for a longtime.

Andat the season he sent a servantto the husbandmen,that they should givehimof the fruit of the vineyard:but the husbandmenbeathim, and sent him awayempty.

Andagain he sentanotherservant:and they beat him also,and entreated him shamefully, and sent him awayempty.

Andagain he sent a third:and they woundedhimalso, and cast him out.

Thensaid the lord of the vineyard,What shall I do? I will sendmybelovedson: it may be they will reverence him when they seehim.

But when the husbandmensawhim, they reasonedamongthemselves,saying, Thisis the heir:come, let us killhim,that the inheritance may beours.

So they casthim out of the vineyard, and killed him. Whatthereforeshall the lord of the vineyarddo unto them?
