Proverbios 10:5-15

5 El que recoge en el verano es hijo entendido; el que duerme en el tiempo de la siega es hijo que avergüenza

6 Bendita es la cabeza del justo; mas la boca de los impíos cubre la violencia

7 La memoria del justo será bendita; mas el nombre de los impíos hederá

8 El sabio de corazón recibirá los mandamientos; mas el que habla locuras caerá

9 El que camina en integridad, anda confiado; mas el que pervierte sus caminos, será quebrantado

10 El que guiña el ojo acarrea tristeza; y el que habla locuras caerá

11 Vena de vida es la boca del justo; mas la boca de los impíos cubre la violencia

12 El odio despierta las rencillas; mas la caridad cubre todas las maldades

13 En los labios del prudente se halla sabiduría; y es vara a las espaldas del falto de entendimiento

14 Los sabios guardan la sabiduría; mas la boca del loco es calamidad cercana

15 Las riquezas del rico son su ciudad fuerte; y el desmayo de los pobres es su pobreza

INTRODUCTION TO PROVERBS 10

From this chapter to the "twenty fifth" are various proverbial sentences, without any very apparent connection or coherence with each other; describing righteous and wicked men; setting forth their different temper, conduct, and actions, and the fruits and effects of them. It should be observed, that frequently in the preceding chapters two persons are represented as women; one goes by the name of "Wisdom", the other is called the "foolish" woman and a "harlot"; the former is clearly to be understood of Christ; and the latter, being opposed to him, must be antichrist, the whore of Rome, and mother of harlots: now in the following part of this book two sorts of persons are spoken of; the one as wise, righteous, good and the other as foolish, wicked, &c. who are no other than the followers of Christ and antichrist; which observation is a key to the whole book.
