1 Dàwèi de érzi Suǒluómén guó wèi jiāngù . Yēhéhuá tāde shén yǔ tā tóng zaì , shǐ tā shén wèi zūn dà .

2 Suǒluómén fēnfu Yǐsèliè zhòngrén , jiù shì qiā fū zhǎng , bǎifūzhǎng , shĕnpàn guān , shǒulǐng yǔ zúzhǎng dōu lái .

3 Suǒluómén hé huì zhòng dōu wǎng Jībiàn de qiū tán qù , yīn nàli yǒu shén de huì mù , jiù shì Yēhéhuá púrén Móxī zaì kuàngyĕ suǒ zhìzào de .

4 Zhǐshì shén de yuē guì , Dàwèi yǐjing cóng Jīliè Yélín bān dào tā suǒ yùbeì de dìfang , yīn tā céng zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng wèi yuē guì zhī dā le zhàngmù ,

5 Bìngqiĕ Hùĕr de sūnzi , Wūlì de érzi Bǐsāliè suǒ zào de tóng tán yĕ zaì Jībiàn Yēhéhuá de huì mù qián . Suǒluómén hé huì zhòng dōu jiù jìn tán qián .

6 Suǒluómén shang dào Yēhéhuá miànqián huì mù de tóng tán nàli , xiàn yī qiā xī shēng wèi Fánjì .

7 Dāng yè , shén xiàng Suǒluómén xiǎnxiàn , duì tā shuō , nǐ yuàn wǒ cì nǐ shénme , nǐ kĕyǐ qiú .

8 Suǒluómén duì shén shuō , nǐ céng xiàng wǒ fù Dàwèi dà shī cíaì , shǐ wǒ jiēxù tā zuò wáng .

9 Yēhéhuá shén a , xiànzaì qiú nǐ chéngjiù xiàng wǒ fù Dàwèi suǒ yīngxǔ de huà . yīn nǐ lì wǒ zuò zhè mín de wáng , tāmen rútóng dì shang chén shā nàyàng duō .

10 Qiú nǐ cì wǒ zhìhuì cōngming , wǒ hǎo zaì zhè mín qián chūrù . bù rán , shuí néng pànduàn zhè zhòngduō de mín ne .

11 Shén duì Suǒluómén shuō , wǒ yǐ lì nǐ zuò wǒ mín de wáng . nǐ jì yǒu zhè xīnyì , bìng bù qiú zīcái , fēngfù , zūnróng , yĕ bù qiú mièjué nà hèn nǐ zhī rén de xìngméng , yòu bù qiú dà shòushu , zhǐ qiú zhìhuì cōngming hǎo pànduàn wǒde mín .

12 Wǒ bì cì nǐ zhìhuì cōngming , yĕ bì cì nǐ zīcái , fēngfù , zūnróng . zaì nǐ yǐqián de liè wáng dōu méiyǒu zhèyàng , zaì nǐ yǐhòu yĕ bì méiyǒu zhèyàng de .

13 Yúshì , Suǒluómén cóng Jībiàn qiū tán huì mù qián huí dào Yēlùsǎlĕng , zhìlǐ Yǐsèliè rén .

14 Suǒluómén jùjí zhàn chē mǎ bīng , yǒu zhàn chē yī qiā sì bǎi liàng , mǎ bīng yī wàn èr qiā míng , ānzhì zaì tún chē de chéngyì hé Yēlùsǎlĕng , jiù shì wáng nàli .

15 Wáng zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng shǐ jīn yín duō rú shítou , xiāng bǎi mù duō rú gāo yuán de sāngshū .

16 Suǒluómén de mǎ shì cóng Āijí daì lái de , shì wáng de shāng rén yī qún yī qún àn zhe déng jià mǎi lái de .

17 Tāmen cóng Āijí mǎi lái de chē , mĕi liàng jià yín qī bǎi Shĕkèlè , mǎ mĕi pǐ yī bǎi wǔ shí Shĕkèlè . Hèrén zhū wáng hé Yàlán zhū wáng suǒ mǎi de chē mǎ , yĕ shì àn zhè jiàzhí jīng tāmen shǒu mǎi lái de .

Chapter 1

Solomon's choice of wisdom, His strength and wealth.

- SOLOMON began his reign with a pious, public visit to God's altar. Those that pursue present things most eagerly, are likely to be disappointed; while those that refer themselves to the providence of God, if they have not the most, have the most comfort. Those that make this world their end, come short of the other, and are disappointed in this also; but those that make the other world their end, shall not only obtain that, and full satisfaction in it, but shall have as much of this world as is good for them, in their way. Let us then be contented, without those great things which men generally covet, but which commonly prove fatal snares to the soul.

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND CHRONICLES

This, and the preceding, were but one book originally, but divided into two because of the size of it, so that this is only a continuation of the former history; that ends at the death of David; this begins with the reign of Solomon, goes through that, and the reigns of all the kings of the house of David; of the kings of Judah only, after the separation of the ten tribes, quite down to the captivity of Judah in Babylon, and reaches to the deliverance of the Jews from thence by Cyrus, and contains an history of four hundred and seventy nine years. It treats not at all of the kings of Israel, after the separation, only of the kings of Judah, through whom the line of the Messiah was drawn; and though it omits several things recorded of them in the book of Kings, yet it gives abundance of anecdotes not to be met with there, which are of great use and advantage in history to know.

This chapter relates, how that Solomon being confirmed in his kingdom, went to Gibeon to sacrifice 2Ch 1:1-6, that the Lord appeared there to him, and what passed between them, 2Ch 1:7-10 and that when he returned from thence to Jerusalem, he increased in splendour, wealth, and riches, 2Ch 1:13-17.
