9
But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves. ’
10
And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and
1those who were ready went in with him to
2the marriage feast, and
3the door was shut.
11
Afterward the other virgins came also, saying,
4‘Lord, lord, open to us. ’
12
5But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you,
6I do not know you. ’
13
7Watch therefore, for you
8know neither the day nor the hour.
The Parable of the Talents
14 9“For
10it will be like a man
11going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.
15
To one he gave five
12talents, to another two, to another one,
13to each according to his ability. Then he
14went away.
16
He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more.
17
So also he who had the two talents made two talents more.
18
But he who had received the one talent went and
15dug in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19
Now
16after a long time the master of those servants came and
17settled accounts with them.
